SEPARATING MIXTURES
(1ºESO: 19th of October, 2006)

Filtration: we can separate solid particles from a liquid using a filter paper and a funnel.

Decanting: Water density is higher than oil density and we can separate them using this special funnel (embudo de decantación).

We can separate iron from sand using a magnet.
Distillation: we can get alcohol from wine boiling it.
The smoke from a cigarette is an homogenoeus mixture. It contains very small solid particles that can pass to our lungs. We can separate them using a "smoking bottle" and putting a piece of cottom inside a green plastic from a balloon.
