LET'S MAKE A TREE
1ºESO A: April 3rd, 2007

We learnt the parts of a tree and how a tree works with a simple performance
directed by Eleonora Scheltus.

Jose and Manuel represented the nerve of the plant. Its function is to hold the tree upright. Juan Carlos, Angela and Juan José were the roots which absorb water and minerals from the soil.

Isa, Sandra, Isabel D. R. and María represented the xylem vessels which transport the crude sap (water and minerals) from the roots to the leaves.
On the right, our theatre director: Nora.

Alejandro, Fran, Isabel D. G. were the leaves. They make food for the plant using water from the soil and carbon dioxide taken from the atmosphere.

Four more students represented floem vessels. Elaborated sap moves through floem vessels from the leaves to the rest of the plant.

In order to complete the tree we added some more actors and actresses to represent the bark that protects the tree from fungi, insects, woodpeckers... Alvaro Gago and Francisco Calvillo played this role as you can see on the videos.
