SEPARATING MIXTURES
(18th and 20th of October, 2006)

Distillation: we can get alcohol from wine boiling it.
We can separate iron from sand using a magnet.

Decanting: Water density is higher than oil density and we can separate them using this special funnel (embudo de decantación).

The smoke from a cigarette is an homogenoeus mixture. It contains very small solid particles that can pass to our lungs. We can separate them using a piece of cottom and a smoking bottle.

Filtration: we can separate solid particles from a liquid using a filter paper and a funnel.
